How would it be distributed as a real media of text?




Genre of the film : Spy thriller

Is it a mainstream blockbuster?

YES. I think releasing our film 'Undercover' as a blockbuster would make a better choice than releasing it to a niche audience. When it came to releasing a movie, every movies need to find their audiences and for the spy movies the audiences are quite big since most of them are middle age group  especially male that age between 40-54. The middle age group mostly has security in their job and in the higher class so I assume that they would prefer watching spy movies more than other movies  because of its seriousness. Also, topics and issues of the spy movie are based on politics, technology and science which are in their interests area so it would attract more older people. However, if it is a well known spy movie franchise like Mission Impossible or James Bond, it would appeal to more wider audience including teenagers both girls and boys. The population of adolescent might be less than the adults ,however one of the teenager habits is spending time and money with friends and the reason that the money is easily spent, it would bring more money into the movie. In addition, the more bigger the fans are the more chance that the movie might go in the box-office hit which then influence more people to watch it. So releasing 'Undercover' as a blockbuster is the best way to distribute it because it is a more formal process and more official way that will definitely attract more people to watch it since it is easy to spot a big poster of the movie at each cinema.


Another way of distributed the movie I think it would be interesting is that we could make a spy television series which are the esponaige of the actual movie to keep the audience interested during each sequels. This way we keep social media activities going.

WHY NETFLIX?

because Netflix is a big movies/series distributor which has over 30 million subscribers. It means that Netflix would give movies exposure. Although, a film maker has to find ways to get their products to distributors then the distributors negotiates a deal with Netflix. After that a film maker needs to pay a licensing fees for Netflix which could be expensive or else they could alternatives to Netflix distribution.


HALLOWEEN!

The appropriate released date of this would be in the october, month of the Halloween because spy movies are supposed to make us feel fearful and afraid. Although the movie shouldn't be released on the date of 31 October because people will go to halloween parties. The global released date would be around the middle of October because that is when people will find a movie to watch to get them in the mood of Halloween season.  However, considering the date of potential box-office movies is important too since the audience might prefer to watch those movies more than our movie which make marketing more competitive and costly. 

MARKETING/ADVERTISING

1. I would advertise my spy movie by making official social accounts for the movie so that everyone can keep up on updated news. In addition to that, this is the best way to get instant feed backs from viewers. 
2. There would also be different versions of trailer to be released. The teaser trailer would be released first to get viewers excited and impatient to wait for the next full trailer. Another version to be released after the full one is second full-length trailer to give them more informations. For example, the teaser trailer could be just pure actions but the full on is pure actions plus more story lines and suspense.
3. All the DVDs and Blur-ays are released 3 or 4 months after the movie was out of the cinema because there will still be a high demand for the costumers to watch it.
