In this lesson we analysed how these two characters are different from each other and how do we know them.
John Doe's apartment scene

anger - how do we know?
attitude,aggressive - man handles photograph
vulnerable because he's emotional, we see him suffer
impulsive/irratic - emotions taken over, kicks the door, remorse
pretentious
want to get the stuff done - mills does his research by looking at the photos and being annoyed while somerset calm and does his research in library.
big toddler - no control, slave to his emotions
restless, full of energy - eager,wants to make stuff happens
passion - love for dogs and for his wife
wise - wants to understand meaning of crimes
calm - facial expression and the way he talks
avoids confrontation - fails to control Mills emotions (outside John Doe flat)
classy
simple/methodical/organise - flat scene the way he organises his stuff
emotionally mature - rational but has lost his way

he's given up because people don't care BUT he's a police man its his job to care

tired seen too much and he wants to quit

he has hope, believes it will change
try hard - thinks he can make a difference
